Meet Our New Head Coach - Jon Pike

Hello Paddlers and Paddling Fans, My name is Jon Pike and I am excited to take on a new role as the Head Coach of Maskwa Aquatic Club. Born in Dartmouth, I have been involved in the sport for almost 25 years and what started as something to do in the summer has turned into a life-long passion. As an athlete I have been to the Canada Games, World Cups races and the World Championships.  I come to Maskwa with a strong technical background in canoeing with successes on the national and international stage, as well as experience as technical coordinator of the 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships (Canoe '09).  I have spent the past five years coaching at the Cheema Aquatic Club leading the development program which resulted in winning last year's Nationals' burgee. I also won Canoe-Kayak Canada's Coaching Excellence award for 2011 and 2012. I am excited to join the Maskwa team and to continue to grow an already successful program. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and excited for another great season on the water.

Meet our New Club Manager!

Hello Maskwa members, families, and friends! My name is Alina  Gromack and I am happy to announce that I am the new Maskwa Club Manager! I was born and raised in the Halifax area, and thus feel most at home when I am surrounded by the water. I am an avid sailor, and have been racing competitively since the age of twelve. In my spare time, I also enjoy playing soccer, swimming, hiking, reading, traveling, and doing anything on the water. I am currently finishing the Bachelor of Management Degree at Dalhousie University.

In past years, I have served as the Assistant Manager at the Bedford Basin Yacht Club, and the Events Coordinator at Atlantic Division CanoeKayak Canada. I pride myself on being a hard worker, who will stop at nothing to meet my goals and aspirations. I am looking forward to getting started as the new Club Manager at Maskwa, and helping this amazing organization continue onits successful path! I am also looking forward to meeting all of you, so please stop by and introduce yourself whenever you are around the club, and do not hesitate to contact me at any time!
